Backyard parties are our most common residential rental, and the motivation is almost always the same: keeping guests out of the house. Graduation open houses in May, reunions in July, wedding showers, milestone birthdays, retirement parties and the occasional very ambitious barbecue all run better when there is a restroom outside.
Party rentals are simple, but the details on a residential lot are different from a jobsite. Yards have sprinkler heads, landscaping, soft grass and neighbors with sightlines. Our drivers do these every weekend around Harrisburg, Tea, Lennox and Sioux Falls and know how to set a unit without leaving ruts across the lawn.
How many units for a backyard party
Home gatherings are usually well served by one unit; the threshold where a second becomes worthwhile is lower than people expect once alcohol and a long afternoon are involved.
| Guests | Duration | Suggested |
|---|
| Up to 50 | 3–4 hours | 1 standard unit |
| 50–100 | 4–6 hours | 2 standard units |
| 100–150 | All day | 2–3 units, consider an upgraded unit for guests |
| Any size | Guests with mobility needs | Add 1 ADA accessible unit |
Protecting your yard
We place units by hand-cart wherever possible rather than driving across turf. A few things on your end make that easy.
- Mark sprinkler heads, septic lids and any buried lines near the placement spot
- Unlock the gate or leave a code, and clear a path wide enough for a cart
- Choose a spot on the driveway edge, a gravel pad or firm level grass
- Avoid low corners of the yard that hold water after rain
- Keep the unit away from the neighbor's patio and out of the party's main sightline
Weekend timing that works
Standard weekend service is a Friday delivery and a Monday pickup. That gives you the unit through setup, the event and cleanup without paying for a longer term. For a Saturday morning event we can deliver Thursday if the yard needs to be arranged around it.
Graduation season in May and June is the busiest residential window of the year in this area. Two to three weeks of lead time is realistic; the last two weekends of May book out first.
Keeping it discreet
Nobody wants a portable toilet as the centerpiece of the backyard. Common solutions: tuck it behind the garage with a clear path, set it on the driveway just past the gate, or place it along the fence line screened by a shrub. String a light nearby for evening events so guests are not using a phone flashlight.
If appearance matters more than usual — a shower or a nicer reception — ask about an upgraded portable restroom with a cleaner interior finish and a flush.
What a weekend party rental costs
A single standard unit for a weekend is the least expensive thing we rent. Price moves with unit type, how many you need, distance from Harrisburg, and whether the date falls on a peak weekend. Adding a second unit costs less than the first because delivery is already routed to your address.
There are no hidden charges for normal use. We will tell you up front if your placement requires a longer carry or special access.
